Welcome to Represent Western Mass

We are a trans-partisan group working to enact the American AntiCorruption Act on the local, state, and federal levels. This is a comprehensive plan to restore democracy and reclaim accountability to We the People. One that does not require a constitutional amendment to make the purchase of political influence illegal.

We join with all our neighbors, from the Tea Party to Occupy, because this is an issue of common ground, and working together is how we're going to get this done. We want to fight corruption, not one another. This may be the the answer you are looking for to feel empowered and help take our democracy back. Learn more at Represent.us and AntiCorruptionAct.org. Everyday Americans stepping up in the fight against corruption are the sole force driving this movement!  Join your peers in fixing our broken political system!

represent western mass, repwma, rally, protest, march

Represent Western Mass was one of 20 groups co-sponsoring a peace "RIOT" in Northampton on Patriot's Day.  We marched and rallied with the Northampton Committee to Stop the Wars to protest our taxes being used for the huge military budget and protest against war as an instrument of public policy.

We Are Not Immune to the Corrupting Influence of Money in Politics

"To my people; you, my family, my friends, my colleagues, all the people that I care about, I want to share some exciting news.  I have been searching everywhere to find an organization or an issue that I can get behind, something that I can invest my time and energy in,  something that I believe in enough to talk to you about it.  And I think I finally found it.  Its called Represent Us.

It's a grassroots organization that's focused on ending corruption and getting money out of politics.  I know that there are many things that you can be focused on right now and many issues that are deserving of your time.  For me this one is the most important.  For me, I can't see significant, sustainable change occur in our government and throughout our system if money continues to play such a huge part in our legislators lives.  They spend so much time, because they have to in the current system, begging for money.  Here in Boston, here in Massachusetts, we are not immune to the corrupting influence of money in politics.  And you know what?  I want to do something about it but I'm going to need your help to do it.

We're introducing AntiCorruption resolutions in towns across the state.  Let me share just one piece of the resolution.  You tell me if you agree with this.  This anti-corruption law that the resolution supports would prohibit politicians from taking campaign money from industries that they regulate.  Common sense, but its not on the books right now and we got to get it there.  What can you do?  What am I asking from you?  Here it is, if you live in a town in Massachusetts, if you want to get money out of politics...let me know you want to get involved and I'll tell you what the next steps are."

Call Your Town Clerk

"Hey, thanks so  much for your interest in Represent.us and our mission.  Let me tell you what we need to do in your town.  Bottom line, we need to add an agenda item to your town's meeting.  Only town residents can get an agenda item on the books. That means you!

"Wait. What, me? I've never even been to a town hall meeting!"  People who go to town hall meetings are no different than you or me.  They're just normal folks who are curious about what's happening in their town.  We get anxious about things we've never done before but once we do? It's no sweat!

Let me give you a run down of the whole process and then I'll tell you where we need to start.

  • Number one, you're going to call your Town Clerk and you're going to ask them a few questions.  "When is our annual town meeting, anyway?"
  • Number two, you're going to invite me and the Represent.Us crew to come out to your town and collect a few signatures from people who want to get money out of politics.
  • And number three, you'll go to the town hall meeting and talk about this resolution to the two other people who show up to town hall meetings.

Being more engaged is new to a lot of people and can be anxiety producing.  But my philosophy is if it makes you a little anxious and there's a potential for a lot of good from it then you should do it.  This is totally doable and you can do this!  All you have to say is yes and we will be there to support you every step of the way.  So, it's up to you now.  What do you think?  Is this something you want to do?"
